Clean Slates
Happy New Year and welcome to 2023! Do you feel different?! Was there this magical switch that flipped and told you *now* you will eat better, exercise more, and live your life to the fullest? I really wish that switch existed, but sadly I know it takes a lot more to change the bad habits I've formed over the past year!
I saw a quote the other day that said "Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one."--Brad Paisley. Since I love reading books, I thought the quote was quite fitting for me! What figurative book do I want to write this year? Do I have to make resolutions in order for this book to be good?
I'm not sure why, but I've gotten away from my typical "resolutions" and "word for the year." Last year I focused on Bible verses, praying them over my life and the lives of others. I realize that praying scripture is so more effective than my own wishing things would happen. So rather than saying, "this year I'm gonna do better," I prayed, "restore unto me the joy of my salvation" and "create in me a clean heart." (Ps. 51:10,12) as well as many other verses.
I love doing a little chalk art--this is a huge chalkboard in my kitchen. This verse was a theme for me the last two years--actually I haven't changed it since mid 2021. In fact, my daughter-in-law got me a lovely piece of art with this verse on it for Christmas. (I finally cleaned the slate in December and have a new quote.) The verse has reminded me that no how crazy, confusing, and busy life gets, I need to keep my eyes on the Lord.
Clean slates and blank pages: I think that's what this year is about. Yes, I like it! Trusting God and leaving the story to Him. I think I just found my resolution!
Peace and Blessings to you~

Great idea! Wish there was a book that gave a random selection for us.
