Embrace the Season: Hosting Outdoor Events in the Fall
Fall offers a unique opportunity for gatherings since the weather is much nicer and the backdrop of fall colors is so delightful. Whether it's a wedding, a retreat, a festival, or a simple gathering of friends and family. Next week we'll be sharing some fun things to do inside once the weather cools down, but this week is all about hosting fabulous outdoor events this fall.
- Cozy Laughter by the Fire Pit: The crisp fall air provides the perfect backdrop for making special memories right in your own backyard. Invite a few friends over for a fun evening around the fire. (And bonus points if one of those friends can play the guitar!) Set the stage with a cozy fire pit as the centerpiece. The warm glow of the flames will not only keep your guests comfortable but also add a touch of rustic charm to the evening. Surround the fire pit with comfortable seating and blankets to create an inviting atmosphere where everyone can gather. String lights around the perimeter so your guests can see past the fire pit.
- Outdoor Movie Magic: Select a classic fall-themed movie or a family favorite to screen outdoors. Set up a large screen and a projector, and don't forget to test the equipment beforehand to ensure a smooth movie experience (perhaps I know this from experience!) As the sun sets and the stars emerge, your guests can relax under the open sky, enjoying the movie with blankets and pillows. Have boxes of popcorn, your favorite movie candies, and warm cider to ensure a two thumbs up review from everyone in attendance.
- S'mores Galore: Fall is the perfect excuse to host an old fashioned weenie roast with friends of all ages! And what's a fall evening without the irresistible allure of s'mores? Set up a s'mores station near the fire pit with all the essential ingredients: graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate bars, and roasting sticks. Encourage your guests to try their hand at crafting the perfect s'more. The process of roasting marshmallows and assembling these sweet treats will add an interactive and nostalgic element to your event. Play a few fun classic games like bobbing for apples or start a new tradition with a corn hole or pickleball tournament.
- Fall Book Club Soiree: We often associate garden parties with springtime. But why not host your October book club on your patio this fall? Enhance the fall garden party atmosphere with seasonal decorations and foliage. Incorporate pumpkins, lanterns, hay bales and fairy lights to create a warm and inviting ambiance. You can also use autumn leaves, pinecones, and other natural elements to add a touch of rustic elegance to your garden setting. Consider providing cozy blankets for guests to wrap themselves in, allowing them to fully embrace the fall spirit.
- Painted Pumpkin Palooza: Whether you're a seasoned artist or just looking for a family-friendly craft, painting pumpkins offers a world of creative possibilities. You're not limited to traditional orange and black Jack-o'-lantern faces. Make it a contest that's fun for all ages with no carving required! Your guests can paint intricate patterns, vibrant landscapes, whimsical characters, or even their favorite quotes and phrases. Spread butcher paper on your outdoor tables to make cleanup a breeze. You can even use a butcher paper covered table for serving a delightful fall themed charcuterie table.
We hope this year you will truly enjoy the great outdoors with your friends and family while the weather and the colors are so spectacular. What are you thinking for your fall gatherings?
