Spring Cleaning
With spring right around the corner, you might be considering spring cleaning. If you've read enough of my blogs, you'll realize that I don't need a reason to clean!
Last year I read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. Admittedly, it's going to take a lot for me to call something "life changing," but I did think it was a great, motivating book. (Sidenote: something life changing for me was Rachel's purchase of this Dyson v7 Motorhead Origin Vacuum on Black Friday!)
In her book, Marie Kondo encourages you to rid your home of things that don't bring joy. After reading the book, I crowned myself a cleaning pro. Not everything in her book will fit everyone, but who can disagree with the idea of a home full of joy!
Now it's a year later, and I realize that it may be time for a refresher course. Even though a big purge might not be necessary, the time has come to go through and edit things out of my home that are no longer useful. I get so much pleasure from tidying my home because I know how wonderful it feels when the task is complete!
This week we've put together a few of our favorite Spring Cleaning tips to share with you. What are some things that help you move through cleaning efficiently?
With all these tips, I'm curious to know what things you like to purge. Right now I have several boxes of books, glassware, and lots of clothes ready to leave my home. Some clothing items I sell, but most items I donate. Do you have a favorite place to donate items? We'd love to hear your favorite donation centers.
Whatever you decide to be your spring cleaning task, know that it's not always the cleaning that brings joy. But when you're done and can feel that sense of accomplishment, a deep sigh of relief and feeling of joy it will come. Don't be discouraged or overwhelmed--press on until the task is done and then bask in the fruit of your labor!
Until next time--happy cleaning!
